New opening arrangements for Willington Dovecote and Stables

Open days at the National Trust’s Dovecote and Stables in Willington have been arranged for Easter Sunday, March 23rd, and then for the last Sunday in the month from April to August, 1 to 5 pm. on each day.  The buildings will also be open on Heritage Day, Saturday September 13th.

In the Stables there are displays about the history of the buildings and the village, but there will be a changing programme of extra displays:

  • Easter (March 23rd) – the National Trust and Conservation
  • April 27th – Willington at War, photos from the Willington Archive
  • May 25th – Days out with the National Trust
  • June 29th – the history of Willington village school, photos from the Willington Archive
  • July 27th – Family Day, arranged by the National Trust and Bedford Association for National Trust Members, with displays and activities to interest families
  • August 31st – Food and Farming, photos from the Willington Archive
  • September 13th (Saturday) – Heritage Display, jointly produced by Bedford Association for National Trust Members and Willington Local History Group.

Volunteers often take visitors round the buildings at other times, and arrangements for visits may be made by contacting the voluntary custodian, Mrs. J. Endersby, tel. 01234 838278
